Top Amusement Parks in Puerto Rico For Summer

One of the most underrated things in PR are the amusement parks as they can be so different from the ones in the US. Sometimes, during my trips, I like to change things up a bit and do something other than visit the beach, shops, and restaurants.

Important fact, so you don’t get disappointed: PR’s parks are most of the time focused on water attractions, adventure parks, and smaller rides rather than the gigantic full-scale roller coasters in the US that we all know and love.

If you love pampering your inner child with adventurous activities, thrilling rides, and lots of exploration in nature, these amusement parks in Puerto Rico promise a unique experience.

Water and Amusement Parks in Puerto Rico for a Fun Summer

There’s something for everyone in this guide, whether you’re looking for an extreme adventure or the best water attractions to escape the heat of summer in a fun way. It will depend on how bold you feel to try something new! 😉

What Makes Amusement Parks in PR Different From US? Know These Things Before You Go!

There’s many differences between the parks in PR compared to the US. For one, what makes the parks different though?

Here are some things to know before you go, so you don’t get disappointed.

Size & Scope

The US is known to have gigantic amusement parks — Hello Disney, Universal, & Six Flags, I’m looking at you. While the US loves its oversized things, PR’s parks are smaller in size and are generally more family-oriented.

Type of Amusement Parks in US

Because of its location within the tropical climate and nature, you will find water parks most often among all the parks. Some of the most popular water parks are Coqui Water Park and Carolina’s Aquasol Water Parkhighly recommended if you’re specifically looking for water parks!

However, next to water parks, you’ll find adventure parks to be the second most common type of amusement parks in PR. Parks here LOVE to incorporate the natural elements as opposed to all the mechanical rides we know from the US, such as ziplining through the rainforests — check out Toro Verde Adventure Park below for this!

More Culture & Themes

While we’re used to burger and fries most of the time in parks, in PR you can expect parks to be fully immersed in Puerto Rican culture. So, expect to see Taino-inspired designs, music, and food offerings that include local cuisine like mofongo.

Prices & Accessibility

One of my favorite things about the amusement parks in PR is the price differences and more affordability. You can find most entrance prices to be in the $20-30-range as opposed to the typical $60+ ones in the US. More so, the vibe is also generally much more relaxed as it’s about fun and mindfulness, rather than just the thrill and adrenaline kick — nothing wrong with that, but make sure you know before you go!

Lastly, another amazing thing about the parks is that PR doesn’t have any winters and the parks stay open year-round. So, if you wanted to go check it out in December, where most US parks are closed, you totally could.

1. ToroVerde Eco Adventure Park

Ticket Price: This park is different from other parks as it’s not a one-time-fee-and-you-can-ride-everything park. Here, you have to pay for the individual attractions, which I’ve linked below.

ToroVerde is a popular adventure park in Orocovis, PR (it’s also the largest park in PR!), and the perfect combination of nature and adrenaline. It’s one of the most popular parks that incorporates its natural elements into every attraction. So, every activity in Toron Verde offers breathtaking views of the mountains. Wherever you go the equipment and training are also included – no worries, you won’t be expected to be a pro at everything. Besides, the staff is super friendly and informative and will go above and beyond to make sure you’re safe at all times.

Tip: after a thrilling ride, grab a bite at the cafe or the restaurant on site.

These are some of the most memorable attractions you can find inside the park:

  • The Monster Zipline – massive zipline over the Orocovis mountains – Book here!
  • Beast Zipline – not as tall as the Monster, but it’s just as impressive and is one of the longest ziplines in the world! – Book here!
  • Toro Bikes– this combines cycling with ziplining. Can you imagine pedaling in the air over the lush canopy? – Book here!
  • ToroRoller– It’s 60 feet high and is made of 7 climbing towers, rope fields, and different obstacles to test your abilities – Book here!

Alternatively, on the main website you can also find a package for the entire family, which might make more sense if you want to do everything in the park. However, if you want to do only specific things, the individual rides will be cheaper booked above.

2. Las Cascadas Waterpark

Where: PR-2, Aguadilla, 00603, Puerto Rico

Ticket prices: $27 for adults and $22 for kids under 12.

If you’re looking for the perfect place to refresh and have fun in the summer, Las Cascadas Water Park has to be on your bucket list of amusement parks in Puerto Rico. It’s the largest water park in the Caribbean region, and you’ll find a lot of different attractions for all ages, from gigantic pools and waterslides to zip lines, obstacle games, and more.

There’s also a cute little gift shop where you can buy souvenirs from your visit and a restaurant with a varied menu– try the colorful smoothies, they’re delicious!

Where: Puerto Rico 992, Luquillo, 00773, Puerto Rico

This is one of those amusement parks in Puerto Rico where you can spend a whole day and not get bored. It’s inside El Yunque Rainforest, and all their activities are designed to take you on an epic exploration journey through stunning flora and fauna. You can enjoy ATV rides, horseback riding along the coast, go-karts, and hayrides.

And at the end of the day, stop by Carabalí Bar & Grill for a delicious Puerto Rican meal– mofongo and shrimp are highly recommended.

4. Coqui Water Parkwoman relaxing in the infinity pool and a drink by the pool with palmtrees and the sunset on the background at coqui waterpark in puerto rico

Where: 1000 El Conquistador Avenue 1, 653 70 mi, Fajardo, 00738, Puerto Rico

Ticket prices:

  • Full day – $19.95
  • Half day (1:30 to 6 p.m.) – $12.95

Coqui Water Park, located at the bottom of the cliff at the El Conquistador Hotel, is a hidden gem for resort guests. It’s a smaller park but offers high-quality amenities. It features a relaxing lazy river, a few fun waterslides — including some tiny ones for children and babies — and pools with crystal-clear water. The park is surrounded by the beauty of palm trees and hills, which gives the impression of being on a secluded island — dip into the infinity pool, and you’ll feel as if you were in the ocean.

Besides the water attractions, you can enjoy all the essentials for a perfect summer afternoon: umbrellas, chairs, towels, and delicious poolside food and drinks from the Oasis Bar & Grill.

Because it’s only for hotel guests, it never feels crowded, meaning short lines and more slide time, so paying the fee feels worth it. Plus, you might snag half-price tickets if you arrive after 1 pm.

5. JungleQui Zip Line Park

Where: Barrio Barcelona, Road 191 int, PR-990, Río Grande, 00745, Puerto Rico

Considered by many to be one of the best amusement parks in Puerto Rico, this park inside of El Yunque has several zip line courses that vary in length and height, but none of them are extremely high. This is ideal for someone who is a bit scared of heights but feels brave enough to try something moderate — and you’ll still be getting incredible views of the vegetation and mountains, for sure.

Some tours also include rappelling and adventurous nature walks with your guide, who will take you through the best trails and natural pools inside the forest — bring your swimsuit for this one!
